Company Origins and Growth
AJG Parcels Ltd, with its main operational hub in Inverness is a leader in its field. Starting life some 18 years ago, we have grown significantly from our humble beginnings as a husband and wife operation, to being the key provider of collection and delivery services in the Scottish Highlands, Islands and Argyll.
We have evolved into a mature company that offers a full range of services in supply chain management, with a portfolio of innovative ideas to meet the ever changing needs of our client base.
AJG Parcels now operates in excess of 80 vehicles and handles over 6000 parcel deliveries, plus 800 parcel collections on a daily basis. This is in stark contrast to 18 years ago when AJG Parcels delivered only 20 parcels per day. Our original team of two has now expanded to over 120 valued employees within the business.
We demonstrate total commitment to fundamentals such as customer care, environmentally sensitive practices, rigorous Health & Safety codes and Quality Assurance accreditation. This combination of proactive thinking linked to the collaborative approach to our business practices is highly valued by our clients and results in a large volume of repeat business.
Our steady growth has been achieved by specialising in parcel delivery in areas where we can provide experienced, local personnel, fully trained to meet the needs of our clients.
Today, AJG Parcels delivery network links are wide spread throughout Argyll and the Highlands and Islands. Operating from a new, purpose built 10000 sq ft headquarters in Inverness; we can offer an unrivalled same day delivery service throughout the highlands. Through 10 other satellite depots throughout Scotland we can also offer a next day delivery service to many outlying areas including the Western Isles and Orkney.
This flexible business model has been one of the key factors in the company's burgeoning success where we have shown a commitment to providing our high level of service to even the most remote communities on the Islands as well as mainland UK.
We have recently completed the final stages of a £1 million pound investment in new, more fuel efficient delivery vehicles. We have successfully replaced over 80% of our delivery vehicles with the most up to date models available at this time and substantially reduced our carbon foot print in the process.
We have also enabled a live transfer Proof of Delivery information system, including signature capture to be presented and displayed to our customers within minutes of collection or delivery of their parcels. Following substantial investment in our hand held scanners AJG Parcels is in the almost unique position of offering real time updates on each of its parcels being delivered or collected irrespective of the location.
AJG Parcels is extremely committed to its customers, employees and our impact on the environment. We are continually striving to find new and more innovative ways with which to improve our service for our customers and stay ahead of our competitors in a highly challenging market place.
Through our state-of-the-art GPS tracking system installed in our vehicles AJG Parcels can deliver ever increasing route and driver efficiencies. This system also allows AJG Parcels to closely monitor our carbon footprint and ensure all of our drivers adhere to environmentally efficient driving levels whilst remaining ever mindful of other road users and their health and welfare also.
